CONCEPT 01

Concept 01 started as a fun, curiosity-driven experiment: transforming a standard pair of USB-powered desktop speakers into a custom, high-fidelity Bluetooth unit. Serving as the very first Origami Tech audio project, the build was engineered around the internal acoustic drivers extracted from a set of Edifier R12U Stereo Computer Bookshelf Speakers. The primary goal was to explore the fundamentals of sound engineering and push the limits of entry-level hardware through a custom-tuned enclosure.

The exterior was crafted to blend raw industrial textures with warm, natural aesthetics, featuring a heavily textured matte black front baffle paired with rich wood-grain side panels. By precisely aligning the dual drivers alongside a central port, the compact enclosure was optimized to deliver a surprisingly wide and dynamic soundstage. Every phase of this build was a hands-on masterclass in acoustic design, internal wiring, and minimalist aesthetics.

While it was originally built to function as a standalone wireless speaker, the sheer quality and clarity of the final audio output inspired a different long-term path. After extensive testing, the project evolved. The custom enclosure was eventually dismantled, and those highly capable Edifier drivers were permanently integrated into the studio's primary home theater system, where they now flawlessly power the rear surround channels. Concept 01 was more than just a DIY build; it was the foundational prototype that established the signature Origami Tech approach to audio.
